接下來排名顺序是意大利、日本、菲律宾及西班牙。这10个国家总共年产55,197,878吨的茄子，种植总面积超过1,847,787公顷，占了全球95.16%的产量。
马来西亚的茄子种植总面积估计只有2，431公顷 (2021年)，年产42,809吨，仅占蔬菜总种植面积的4%。至于主要的生产地有来自彭亨州的金马仑 (6,442吨)、柔佛州峇都巴辖 (2,440吨) 及吉兰丹 Bachok (2,755吨)。这三个主要生产地占了大约50%的茄子总种植面积，其余的来自其他生产地。
